Search Engine Positioning Affects Traffic to Your Site
Search engine positioning is the web marketing term for where your website appears when a user searches for a product or service you provide. There are three ways to be found on the search engines:
- Natural, or free, listings that can be enhanced thru Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This is the most common method of search engine placement. There is no way to guarantee placement in this type of search result.
- Pay Per Inclusion (PPI) listings, which are ad spots that can be purchased with most of the search engines – typically at the top of the page. Charges are assessed just for the listing, regardless of whether or not a visitor clicks on your advertisement.
- Pay Per Click (PPC) listings, which are ad spots that can be purchased with most of the search engines – typically along the rail. Charges are assessed via pre-determined bids when a visitor clicks on your advertisement.
